Spring/Summer 2012

Sintillate's guide to Spring / Summer 2012: we will try and help to keep your wardrobe sorted, and your looks on the cutting edge. Lets start out with Oh so trendy Preppy Inspired espadrilles... Think plaids, stripes, and nautical navy, or do you Crochet? Well it's back, Crochet vests are big this spring, maybe you can look to the back of your closet . maybe you might have a bit of a crochet number lurking!

Colour:

The colour that jumps out at the head of the line for spring is orange! Less face it there is no other colour that can make a loud fashion statement as orange. So need a new dress? Make it an orange.

Shoes:

Feet need a rest This spring kitten heels are big. The kitten heel is a good choice this spring. They are feminine, and classic, as well as comfortable

Stripes:

Stripes seem to hold a place in fashion year after year. You can't go wrong wearing stripes, from head to toe. Expect to see lots of stripe's, not only on wonderful nautical knit tops, but dresses, handbags, and even shoes!

1960s Fashion:

Who could forget the long legs and short hems of Twiggy and Jean Shrimpton? Or the iconic designs of Mary Quant? Look to these icons for an update on a mod look, with elements like the following: (1) Wide eyes curtained by big false lashes, (2) Bright block colours, (3) Cats-eye glasses. (4) 60s accessories: a wide, waist-cinching belt; a leather clutch in candy-store pastels; gloves; a classic headscarf. and (5) Hair worn sultry and '60s sex kitten, or swept up into a beehive.

1960s folk fashion:

Softer and sexier than a mod look, a folkish sixties look is free spirited with a Parisian twist. (1) Anything made out of lace, (2) Peter-pan collars, (3) Ultra-short hemlines and Low-slung belts, (4) Monochrome instead of colour: plenty of white, cream & black and finally (5) Effortless sexiness with unfussy hair and winged-out eyeliner.

1960s sex kitten:

Cuts that draw in the waist, accentuating the bust and hips. It's all about the curves. Full circle skirts or slim pencil skirts, or cropped pants with high waists. Bed hair. Try a softer, modern update on Brigitte Bardot hair, or go all out bouffant. Just make it count and a sultry pout; long lashes and plenty of eyeliner.

3 items to keep into the New Year - rather than buy everything new, there's plenty from Autumn wardrobe that you can carry over:

(1) The wide leg pant, (2) The tuxedo jacket and (3) The high slit dress.

1920s fashion:

Dresses with loose-fitting dresses with embellishments such fringing and beading, however, we might not see a full blown return of the flapper dress but a return of its elements and details instead. Flapper dress styling inspiration. If you're looking at including elements of the Roaring 20s in your own wardrobe then choose: Beading and fringing, Drop-waists, Kate Moss for Topshop, Short bobs and Flapper headbands
